Best Ayurvedic Treatment for Spondylosis, Back & Neck Pain
What is Cervical Spondylosis? Cervical spondylosis is also identified as degenerative osteoarthritis or cervical osteoarthritis.
It is referred to as the decay of the vertebrae and discs in the neck as we get older, particularly the cervical spine, which is the part of a spine in the neck.
The edges of the vertebrae, time after time develop small, rough portions of bone called osteophytes. As we grew older, the discs get thinner, growing the risk of symptoms.
The situation generally rises in men and women older than 40 and proceeds with age. The symptoms in Men generally develop earlier in age than in women.
Cervical spondylosis can lead to bouts of inflexibility and neck pain. Swollen neck joints can pinch or press adjoining nerve roots or the spinal cord itself, resulting in pins and needles, and occasionally even pain in the limbs.
In some cases, there may be a loss of sensation and coordination. Some patients could find difficulty in walking. It has been researched that most of us will have had some degree of cervical spondylosis symptoms, as we reach 70 years of age.
Symptoms
Symptoms of cervical spondylosis can vary from mild to severe. Possibly, it will have a flare-up of symptoms if you over-use your neck, or if you twist a neck muscle or ligament, more often some, it may lead to cervical spondylosis. Symptoms can include:
Pain in the neck may spread to the base of the skull and shoulder joints. Even small movements of the neck may make the pain worse.
Sometimes pain spreads down an arm and hand to fingers. It is caused by irritation of a nerve that goes to the arm from the spinal anesthesia cord in the neck.
The pain may get bigger and decline with eruptions from time to time. However, a few people develop chronic persistent pain. Some neck inflexibility is particularly seen after a night’s rest.
Especially from time to time the pains in the head often start at the back of the head just above the neck and moves over the top to the forehead. Lack of feeling, needles, and pins, or even weakness may take place in a part of the hand or arm.
Other Symptoms
- There might be radiation sickness of the ache from the neck to the back of the head.
- There may perhaps be radiation sickness of the ache from the neck to the left hand.
- There might be radiation syndrome of the pain from the neck to the right hand.

All the above symptoms are found in a person suffering from a condition known as cervical spondylosis. Neck immovability and pain may be worsened with upright actions.
Numbness and weakness may appear in the arms, hands, and fingers, and weakness in the legs. We may also feel or hear crushing or cracking in the neck when you move.
Muscularity spasms or headaches may feel ill-tempered and weak, disturb sleep, and damage your ability to work.
Ayurvedic View
According to Ayurveda, the functions of the body are base on three basic parts, the three doshas Vata, Pitta & Kapha. These parts on a stage of stability lead to health and instability cause diseases.
The disruption to any one of these finally leads to problems associated with all three doshas. In Ayurveda, treatment is aimed at reconstructing and balancing through rectification of the essential functional in-equilibrium.
A healing consists of three approaches, Elimination (Sodhanam) of the accumulated toxic results of digestion, metabolism and the disease process, Mollification (Samanam) and improvement of the bodies responsible for the changed performance and Rasayanam (Rejuvenation) of the physical tissue to recover and take care of natural strength and energy.
Vata, the principle of movement is the superior function of the skeleton-muscular system and the nervous system. Problems linking to these systems are generally caused by weakened Vata.
The vitiation of vata is caused by two methods. One is an obstruction to vata due to the nonfunctional pitta and kapha. Another one is increased of vata independently as in the case of the degenerative troubles.
The remedial approaches to the two types of vitiation are distinct. If Vata’s functions are disordered due to Pitta and Kapha, as in the case of infection, rectifying them through riddance and mollification is the method to be adopted.
For diseases due to Vata only ( the degenerative disorders), the idea is to use medications, which arrest the degenerative procedures.
While fibromyalgia is a condition where Vata is unbalanced due to Pitta and Kapha, the other two problems are due to Vata solely. The healing of cervical spondylosis and herniated disk consists of the use of medications to arrest the degenerative process.
